Woodstock 50 May Be Back on at New Venue
It appears that the Woodstock 50 festival may be held this August after all. The AP reports that the organizers of the troubled festival may host a smaller version of the event at an upstate New York horse track and casino. Town of Vernon Supervisor Randy Watson tells the Poughkeepsie Journal that Woodstock 50 recently applied for a permit to hold its concert August 16-18 at Vernon Downs, about 35 miles east of Syracuse. Per the application, the proposed capacity was 45,000 to 50,000 people, which is far smaller than the 150,000 planned for at the initial venue, Watkins Glen International. Vernon Downs owner Jeffrey Gural said via email Monday that they’re close to signing a letter of intent and could host up to 65,000 people, but without camping.
