Angelina Jolie, 44, filed for divorce from Brad Pitt three years ago. While they're clearly not getting back together, they are still in limbo, primarily because of the sheer size of their fortune. The pair have to split up multiple estates, including the winery and castle Miraval that they bought in France in 2011.
Meanwhile, all is not well between parents and their six kids.
The 55-year-old Pitt is disappointed that he and his eldest son Maddox have been unable to heal the rift that became public after he was accused of handling him to roughly on a private plane. The 2016 incident famously sparked Jolie's bid to divorce him.
"Maddox hasn't been receptive," a source tells Us of his mother's efforts to reconcile her son with the Ad Astra star. "And for Brad, it's a tremendous loss."
Now that Maddox is enrolled in college in South Korea, Pitt hopes to use the opportunity to bond with his other children.
"With Maddox overseas, Brad is also hopeful that Pax will also be interested in reconnecting without the influence of his older brother," adds the insider.
Pitt and Jolie also share kids Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, Vivienne, 11, and Knox, 11.
