Are the Fab Four on the outs or not? Is Queen Elizabeth II really OK with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ditching the royals for a solo hang at Christmas? Inquiring minds want to know.
Thankfully, insiders are allegedly spilling the tea to reporters.
When Harry and Meghan reunited with Prince William and Kate Middleton for back-to-back Remembrance Days recently, many observed a certain lack of natural warmth between the allegedly feuding foursome.
A source tells People: "Everyone was doing their duties, doing what they needed to do on behalf of the family—and that was that. But there is a divide between the four of them. It's hard for people to digest, because everyone wants them to be such a unit."
The root of the issue goes back two years, according to reports, when William warned Harry that he was moving too fast with Meghan. Everything is affected, from their households which they formally separate following their marriage, to seating at royal events, to Christmas plans.
Some sources speculate that the rift between Harry and William goes back even further, and sounds like run-of-the-mill sibling rivalry.
A source tells People: "William is the future King. There is going to be some competitiveness between him and Harry. That already puts a rock in the relationship."
Another insider says they are all trying to make the best of it: "They're going to have to try to figure out how to be civil, but they are on different paths now. It's just the reality of the situation."
Part of their mission to make the best of it led to their decision to skip Christmas at Sandringham House in Norfolk, a source tells Us Weekly.
"The drama surrounding the couple has caused a huge amount of stress. They're making their family their No. 1 priority right now."
But their decision to spend the holidays with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland is rubbing the Queen the wrong way, despite the official word from the Palace. The Queen is, the insider says, "disappointed" with their decision.
