“Ugly Betty” Stars Mourn Death of Show Creator Silvio Horta at 45 of Suspected Suicide

<i>Ugly Betty </i>creator Silvio Horta was found dead in a Miami motel room Tuesday in an apparent suicide, <i>Variety</i> reports. He was 45. His agent confirmed his death, which sources say came from  a self-inflicted gunshot wound. <i>Ugly Betty</i> ran on ABC from 2006 until 2010 with Horta serving as showrunner and head writer. <i>Entertainment Tonight</i> reports that America Ferrara and other stars of the show are mourning Horta’s loss. “I’m stunned and heartbroken to hear the devastating news of <i>Ugly Betty</i> creator, Silvio Horta’s death. His talent and creativity brought me and so many others such joy and light,” Ferrera wrote on Instagram. Fellow <i>Ugly Betty </i>star Vanessa Williams also paid tribute to Horta. “Still in shock after hearing the tragic news of our #uglybetty creator #silviohorta,” she wrote. “His creativity and passion will be missed by so many of us that worked with him. May he Rest In Peace.”
