Media mogul Tyra Banks is making a sizzling return to modeling at age 45 on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. More than 20 years after she became the first black woman to grace the annual cover, she is back and in a bikini!
This is Banks’ third SI Swimsuit cover, and she is wearing a tiny yellow Andi Bagus bikini in Great Exuma, Bahamas. In another shot inside, she recreated one of her most famous looks in a red polka dot bikini. The Swimsuit issue has multiple covers. Soccer star Alex Morgan and model search winner Camille Kostek landed the other two covers this year.
Banks appeared on Good Morning America Wednesday and joked about her return, saying: "I'm like, 'Damn, I'm 45, dog!'"
WHY SHE LEFT:
In an interview with The New York Times, Banks also revealed why she left modeling a decade ago.
"When I was 32 years old, I retired from the business. I didn’t want to age out," she recalls. "I walked out with a three-year contract on the table, but I wanted to say goodbye before the industry said goodbye to me. Leave before they leave you. My mother used to tell me that."
