Tom Hanks “Can’t Fake” the “Malevolence” Needed to Play Villains

Tom Hanks “Can’t Fake” the “Malevolence” Needed to Play VillainsTom Hanks doesn’t play too many villains because he’s not convinced he can fake it, according to People. “Bad guys, by and large, require some degree of malevolence that I don’t think I can fake,” he says. Hanks says his powers lie in charming and seducing the room. “I’m not coming in to dominate a room, but I am coming in to seduce it somehow,” he reveals. In his new film, he’s playing quintessential nice guy Fred Rogers. Mr. Rogers’ widow says Hanks looks “adorable” in the role. She says, “Fred Rogers was a huge fan of Tom Hanks,” adding, “I think he would like this very much.” A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood opens on November 22.https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/13/movies/tom-hanks-mister-rogers.html?smid=tw-nytimesarts
