“The Masked Singer”: The Llama Gets Sheared in Episode 2
The Masked Singer returned to its normal Wednesday night schedule after Sunday’s Season 3 premiere, and it brought back the five remaining contestants from the opener: The Llama, The White Tiger, The Kangaroo, Miss Monster and The Turtle. Special guest Jason Biggs joined judges Robin Thicke, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, and Jenny McCarthy for episode 2. First up was The Llama, who sang a somewhat odd version of Tom Jones’ “It’s Not Unusual,” which McCarthy felt was better than Sunday’s performance. Miss Monster then took the stage to perform a soulful version of “Fancy” by Bobbie Gentry, drawing praise from Jeong and Thicke. “That was epic, that was so good… I feel like we’re in the presence of an icon,” Jeong said. The White Tiger then performed an energetic performance of “Good Vibrations” by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, which didn’t sound great, but looked great. The Kangaroo then turned in the best performance of the night to that point, doing Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good,” after which Thicke called her “the front runner right now.” The night’s final performance came from The Turtle, who showcased a strong voice with James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go,” which Thicke also praised as “dynamic vocally.” After input from the audience and judges, The Llama was selected to be unmasked, and turned out to be comic Drew Carey. “This is a great show! I had a blast,” Carey told the judges.
