Taylor Swift Fan Account Operator Hailed as Hero for Continuing to Post From Prison

Talk about “Fearless!” An Israeli-born Swiftie who operates a Taylor Swift fan account on Twitter shocked followers on Tuesday when she revealed that she’d just spent the past two months in prison for refusing to enlist in the Israeli army. “As most of you know, I haven’t been very active in the past couple of months because I was in prison,” the fan, who goes by Na’ama, tweeted. “I’m back now though. More Taylor Swift updates coming soon!” When a follower asked why she’d been imprisoned, Na’ama replied, “I refused to join the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) lmao.” Mashable notes that Israelis who refuse to enlist in the mandatory military service routinely receive prison sentences that can last up to a year. Na’ama’s fans were even more impressed after realizing that she’d still managed to share Swift updates during her imprisonment when friends would visit her and smuggle out handwritten “tweets” on paper. Back in February, her account posted a note written on graph paper that read, “Can y’all…stop making comments on Taylor’s body…she’ll let us know when/if she’s pregnant. Calm down.”
