Taylor Swift Drops New ”Beautiful Ghosts” Song From Upcoming “Cats” Movie
Even though we knew it was coming, this one still feels unexpected: Taylor Swift and Broadway legend Andrew Lloyd Webber just dropped their new song “Beautiful Ghosts,” E! reports. The collaboration was written for the upcoming movie adaptation of Cats, and as it turns out, has a rather important role in the film. “When I read the screenplay, the first thing I said was, ‘We have to have a song for Victoria,'” says Webber, who composed the new track’s music while Swift penned the lyrics. “The song is now an incredibly important and central part of the whole film.” While Victoria, played by British ballerina Francesca Hayward, sings the song in the movie, the version that dropped Friday at midnight is sung by Swift herself. Swift teased the song earlier this week by telling fans, “I was so excited when @andrewlloydwebber asked me to write an original song with him for @catsmovie.” Director Tom Hooper praised Swift for the song’s lyrics, which begin with “Follow me home, if you dare to / I wouldn’t know, where to lead you/Should I take chances? When no one took chances on me.” “Beautiful Ghosts” is available to listen to online, and Cats will hit theaters on December 20.
