Scarlett Johansson Blames “Clickbait” Editing After Saying She Should Be Able to Play “Any Person, Tree or Animal”

Scarlett Johansson is once again suffering from foot-in-mouth disease after once again insisting that she should be allowed to play a transgender character. “As an actor, I should be allowed to play any person, or any tree, or any animal because that is my job and the requirements of my job,” ScarJo told As If Magazine last week. “I feel art should be free of restrictions.” The 34-year-old actress has since told Variety that the As If Q&A was “edited for click bait and is widely taken out of context.” She added, “I continue to support, and always have, diversity in every industry and will continue to fight for projects where everyone is included.” Last year, Johansson was criticized after being cast as a trans crime boss in the film Rub & Tug. She ultimately dropped out of the project.
