After clawing her way to the top of showbiz (after many years on Broadway and working in film), Sarah Jessica Parker found she didn’t want to be there.
On James Andrew Miller’s Sex and the City-focused podcast she said that the incredible success of the show took her by surprise."I panicked and I was like, ‘I want to maintain my life. I like doing a few plays a year and a movie, and maybe a TV movie of the week,’ " she said.
"All of a sudden it felt like somebody was holding me hostage or something or there just were these limitations which felt very suffocating," she said.
Eventually though, she played Carrie Bradshaw in 94 episodes across six seasons and two feature films, alongside Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.
