Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein is reportedly plotting his comeback, as his criminal trial for sexual assault looms.
Page Six reports that Weinstein is attending the Sundance Film Festival and taking meetings, but has not shown his face in public. Weinstein has been accused of sexual misconduct, including rape, by dozens of women. Weinstein denies the allegations. He recently appeared in Manhattan Supreme Court with his ex-lawyer Ben Brafman and his new team, Jose Baez, Ron Sullivan and Duncan Levin. His trial is set to begin May 6th.
A source tells the paper that Weinstein’s former assistant was seen at the Gucci and Chime for Change event at Sundance Sunday, lending credence to his rumored presence in Park City.
Weinstein is the subject of a documentary that premiered at Sundance. In it, the story of activist Rose McGowan’s allegations against Weinstein are shared, though she didn’t appear in Untouchable herself. McGowan has previously claimed he raped her more than 20 years ago, then sidelined her career. Rosanna Arquette and Paz de la Huerta’s allegations are also shared.
While no new evidence is presented, several former Miramax employees reveal what it was like to work under Weinstein.
