Jealous much? Roseanne Barr is stampeding into the controversy around the firing of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn after old tweets of his making light of pedophilia and rape resurfaced.
Barr, of course, was fired from ABC’s reboot of Roseanne after her racist tweets about former Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett prompted widespread outrage. (She claims she didn’t know Jarrett was black when she compared her to an "ape.")
While Gunn has received support from cast members of the original two Guardians (he was at work on the third installment of the $1.6B-garnering franchise), and a petition was launched in support of Disney rehiring him, Barr’s costars either avoided the controversy altogether or criticized her on social media. Barr noted the difference.
She wrote on Twitter: "I’m disgusted to read all of the support for James Gunn’s pedophile jokes-as the same people supported blacklisting me for a joke they didn’t even understand."
ROSEANNE SPINOFF TO PREMIERE IN OCTOBER
In happier Roseanne news, ABC announced its Tuesday night lineup this fall. Roseanne spinoff The Conners will lead the lineup. The network also announced the rest of its schedule: first up this fall will be Dancing With the Stars and The Good Doctor on Monday, September 24th. Next up will be Grey’s Anatomy, which will bow on Thursday, September 27th.
The Tuesday lineup is being held until October 16th, a move seemingly driven by the shifting production schedule of The Conners. The delay was caused after the network pulled the plug on Roseanne; but two weeks later, the powers that be signed on a Barr-free spinoff, which will star John Goodman, Sara Gilbert and Laurie Metcalf.
