The iconic Boyz in the Hood director John Singleton is in the hospital after suffering a stroke, and his condition has worsened, according to multiple reports. According to legal documents obtained by The Blast and ET, Singleton, 51, is in a coma. His family is attempting to establish a conservatorship for him.
His mother, Sheila Ward, is requesting that she be made Singleton’s temporary conservator because he is "unable to properly provide for his personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter."
Singleton did not reportedly have a living will, which stipulates how he wants doctors to proceed in a medical emergency.
According to the legal documents obtained by ET, Singleton was in the midst of several business projects when he had a stroke, and was prepared to sign a lucrative deal. Ward is requesting that she be put in charge of his affairs.
She says if the conservator is not named ASAP, "substantial financial loss will result to the proposed conservatee’s estate."
According to a doctor’s submitted statement, Singleton was suffering from "major impairment to motor skills and psychological functions, including his ability to ‘reason logically.'"
