Rami Malek Couldn’t Believe Robert Downey, Jr. Wanted to Be His Friend

<div>On Tuesday, Rami Malek said that at first, he couldn’t believe that Robert Downey, Jr. was trying to contact him through emails and texts. On <i>The Ellen Degeneres Show</i>, the pair talked about their friendship. Downey Jr. said, “I basically e-mailed you and was serial-texting you, I was trying to FaceTime you.” Malek responded “I couldn’t even believe it was you. For a second, I got the e-mail from Robert, and I thought, ‘Okay, somebody’s playing tricks on me,'” Malek said. “Then they kept coming, and they were so witty … that I thought it could be no one else but you [Robert],” he continued. The two became friends, with Downey, Jr. visiting Malek on the set of <i>Mr. Robot</i>. They both appear in the new film <i>Dolittle</i>, with Downey Jr. playing the doctor who can speak to animals and Malek voicing a gorilla. The film opens January 17.</div>
