President Donald Trump is targeting director Spike Lee after he used his Oscar acceptance speech to encourage viewers to start mobilizing for the 2020 presidential election. He didn’t name Trump in his speech.
Lee said: "Let's all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate."
On Monday, Trump tweeted that Lee did a "racist hit on your President," then claimed that he had "done more for African Americans" than "almost" any other president.
Lee won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for white supremacist drama BlacKkKlansman; the film includes footage of Trump following the white supremacist rallies in Charlottesville, Virginia that killed Heather Heyer, a 32-year-old civil rights activist, and injured three dozen others.
