Pete Davidson addressed his suicide scare on Saturday Night Live. The 25-year-old appeared on Weekend Update with Colin Jost, 36, introducing him by saying he was there "to talk about a very important experience he had over the holidays."
Davidson joked, "As you know, I’ve had a really crazy month but I want to talk about something that matters a lot to me — the new Clint Eastwood movie, The Mule!"
When John Mulaney, 36, came out to talk The Mule, he said: "I’ve been spending some time with Pete to try to show him that you can have a life in comedy that is not insane. A sober, domestic life."
Davidson responds, joking: "Yeah, and after observing John’s life, I publicly threatened suicide."
He continued: "I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t make that joke, but it is funny."
Mulaney said: "Pete, look at me. Look me in the eye. You are loved by many."
Twitter ate it up, and furthermore, they embraced Mulaney and Davidson’s approach to film criticism, with multiple people (including Patton Oswalt), requesting Mulaney and Davidson "review all the movies from now on."
