Paul Rudd & Finn Wolfhard Battle Ghosts in 1st “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” Trailer
The first trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife dropped Monday, and it’s giving off some major Stranger Things vibes. For one thing, the two-and-a-half-minute clip stars that series’ Finn Wolfhard as a teenager whose deceased grandfather was apparently one of the original Ghostbusters. ET notes that it’s never made clear which original Ghosbuster is the grandpa, although both Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd have confirmed appearances in the new film, as well as their original Ghostbusters co-stars, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts. (A third original Ghostbuster, Harold Ramis, passed away in 2014.) Meanwhile, Paul Rudd appears as a curious teacher who gets involved as Wolfhard and his fellow students battle the supernatural. Unlike the original, there are no big laughs in the trailer, although Wolfhard told ET back in October, “It’s a really faithful movie if you love the originals…People are going to love it.” Ghostbusters: Afterlife, co-written and directed by Jason Reitman–whose dad Ivan Reitman directed the original–debuts in theaters on July 10, 2020.
