New Documentary About Guy Clark, Susanna Clark & Townes Van Zandt to Debut at SXSW 2020

Filmmakers Tamara Savianao and Paul Whitfield have announced that they will premiere their 95-minute documentary about Guy Clark, Susanna Clark, and Townes Van Zandt at the SXSW 2020 in March. The film, Without Getting Killed or Caught, is about the complicated relationship between legendary songwriters Guy Clark, Susanna Clark and Townes Van Zandt, and the music it inspired. The documentary features narration by Oscar-winning actress Sissy Spacek and interviews with famous musicians like Rodney Crowell, Steve Earle, Vince Gill, Jo Harvey Allen, Terry Allen, Verlon Thompson and Guy Clark himself. The film will also include archival soundbites, photos from the era and vintage footage of the artists and the time, following the three from obscurity to fame and reverence. The narrative of the film is based on the diaries of Susanna Clark and Saviano’s 2016 book of the same name.
