Maren Morris, Blake Shelton Dedicate 2019 CMA Awards Wins to Busbee

While accepting her Country Music Award for the album <i>Girl</i>, Country superstar Maren Morris fought back tears as she dedicated it to her late friend and music producer Busbee, who passed away in September at the age of 43 from a rare form of brain cancer, E! News reports. “I would be really remiss if I didn’t mention a huge facet of why this album sounds the way it does,” Morris said during her acceptance speech. “And we miss him so dearly. He texted me the morning that we got the nomination for Album of the Year this year, and we were so excited. That’s our friend Busbee.” Earlier in the evening, Blake Shelton had also dedicated his Single Of The Year Award for “God’s Country” to the producer, Access Hollywood reports. Shelton told the CMA audience that he wanted to kick off the evening by dedicating his CMA Award to Busbee and Earl Thomas Conley, who died at the age of 77 in April. At the time of Conley’s death, Shelton said, “Earl was my all time favorite singer, hero and my friend. Prayers to his family. We will all miss you deeply my brother. Now go rest…”<br />
