Leonardo DiCaprio has to fork over the his Oscar; but not the one he earned for 2015’s The Revenant, the one he was gifted. The 44-year-old Oscar-winner was given Marlon Brando’s 1954 Oscar for his role in On the Waterfront by Malaysian financier Jho Low.
Low bought the Oscar for a reported $600K at an auction and gave it to DiCaprio, in addition to a painting by Pablo Picasso and other goodies. Low financed The Wolf of Wall Street, in which DiCaprio starred, and the pair became buddies, according to reports.
DiCaprio isn’t the only celeb who has been showered with gifts by Low, who has been accused of masterminding a fraud worth billions against an investment fund called the 1Malaysia Development Berhad Fund or 1MDB, which was supposed to benefit average Malaysians. According to reports, Low, 37, is a fugitive believed to be hiding in China.
