Kanye’s Dome Prototypes May Be Torn Down Over Permit Issues, Neighbor Complaints
Kanye West’s idea to break down class barriers by creating domed housing units may already be kaput. TMZ reports that “several neighbors have complained to the L.A. County Dept. of Public Works” about the four domed prototypes he’s built on 300 acres in Calabasas. “After inspectors came out to the property, they determined the project violates the building code.” Kanye reportedly has until September 15 to obtain the proper permits or the structures will be torn down. The outlet adds that West never applied for permits because he considered the prototypes to be temporary structures. But a building inspector who came out to look at the domes after a second neighbor complaint was lodged saw that they were erected on concrete foundations, which led him to determine that they were not temporary structures.
