Kanye West Visits Joel Osteen’s Church, Says “The Greatest Artist” (Himself) Is Now Working for God
On Sunday, Kanye West visited Joel Osteen’s Lakewood megachurch in Houston, Texas. West attended the morning service and gave a lengthy account of his spiritual journey. He alluded to his famously conceited behavior, saying, “I told you about my arrogance and cockiness already. Now the greatest artist that God has ever created is now working for him,” West also defended Osteen’s reputation, saying the pastor always shows people how good God is. Osteen beamed and said, “when you’ve got Kanye defending you, you’ve made it.” Later that night, West and his choir performed for more than two hours. They turned some secular songs into gospel songs, including “Weak” by SWV and “Say My Name” by Destiny’s Child. West also performed verses from “Selah”, “God Is…” and other songs from his new album Jesus is King. He closed the show with “Closed on Sunday” and “Jesus Walks,” an older song.
