Jennifer Lopez’s Production Company Sued for $40 Million by Stripper Who Inspired “Hustlers”
Once a hustler, always a hustler! The Blast reports that the real-life inspiration for Jennifer Lopez’s character in Hustlers is now suing the star’s production company for $40 million for allegedly defaming her by using her likeness and story without permission. In legal documents, Samantha Barbash claims that producers tried to “obtain a consent and waiver from Ms. Barbash for the production of the film and their ultimate portrayal” of her before they started shooting the project, but she refused. Barbash also claims she was defamed by the film, which showed her alter ego using and manufacturing illegal substances in the home she shared with her underage child. She’s reportedly seeking $20 million in punitive damages and another $20 million in compensatory damages, as well as a court order forcing producers to turn over all copies of the film.
