People has dubbed the 47-year-old Jennifer Garner as 2019’s Most Beautiful Person, citing not only her picture-perfect looks, but her activism, and laid-back and supportive approach to her divorce from Ben Affleck. (She’s the one who drove him to rehab for the third time after he ended up splashed across tabloids accepting whiskey deliveries at home and cavorting with a Playboy model, you may recall).
As is standard procedure upon receiving Most Beautiful status, Garner swung by the Ellen DeGeneres Show to unveil the cover, confessing: "You guys are the first people to know. My mom doesn’t know, my sisters, my kids ― nobody knows."
"People is now a magazine for AARP," she joked.
She said: "Do you know, how many times have been here? I have never been more nervous than I am today. I guess I just thought you guys would boo. Like, you guys are expecting Kaia Gerber, and it’s me. And I feel like bolting. I feel like I should go, you know what I mean? Because it’s so ridiculous. It’s silly, but it’s nice."
She told People that the compliment she hears most frequently is that she’s "prettier in person than I am on screen."
Garner also revealed that she doesn’t read anything about herself in the media. "Zero. Not only do I not read comments, I work very hard to not see the pictures, to not read articles or to know what’s out there at all," she says. "And it’s not that I don’t care, it’s that I care too much. Instagram is a different story because I don’t get a lot of people being mean."AUDIO: JENNIFER GARNER ON ELLEN DEGENERES
