Jennifer Aniston and her ex-husband Justin Theroux reunited over the weekend to say goodbye to their beloved dog Dolly, who died on Sunday.
"Tonight, at sunset, after a heroic struggle… our most loyal family member and protector, Dolly A. laid down her sword and shield. She was surrounded by her entire family," Theroux, 47, wrote on Instagram.
He continued: "‘The one that never deserts, the one that never proves ungrateful… is the dog— faithful and true, even in death,'" roughly quoting late Senator George Graham Vest. "Rest In Peace Dolly. #adoptdontshop #rescuedog."
Theroux also posted snapshots from the memorial, which showed Dolly surrounded by flower petals. One picture, which showed him holding a beautifully manicured hand, prompted speculation of a renewed romance between the pair.
Their friends, including Courteney Cox, Trudie Styler, Todd Oldham, Cat Power, Amy Sedaris and Orlando Bloom, extended their sympathy to the pair.
Aniston and Theroux split last February after two+ years of marriage and seven years as a couple. During their 2015 wedding, Dolly and their pit-bull-boxer mix Sophie participated in the wedding.
