Jeff Bezos Introduces Lunar Lander Called “Blue Moon”

Jeff Bezos is determined to send people to the moon–and, thanks to the inventions of his company Blue Origin, he’s getting ever closer to having the means to do so. On Thursday, the Amazon founder dramatically introduced a precision-minded lunar lander rocket dubbed Blue Moon, which he envisions being able to shoot out satellites, launch moon rovers, and deliver what he termed “payloads” to the moon’s surface. Bezos also showed off a proposed rover, which Reuters says is golf cart-sized, and a new, super-powered rocket engine. The announcement of the space vehicles comes as U.S. officials want to install astronauts on the moon’s south pole permanently by 2024. “I love this,” Bezos said of those ambitions. “We can help meet that timeline, but only because we started three years ago. It’s time to go back to the moon, this time to stay.”<br />
