Angelina Jolie’s team has denied reports of her split from powerful divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, but tongues have been wagging about her recent aggressive tactics in her battle against estranged husband Brad Pitt. The Maleficent actress recently brought on other attorneys with formidable reputations for playing tough in Hollywood divorce wars.
Last week, Jolie accused Pitt of failing to provide "meaningful child support" for their brood of six since their split in 2016.
In her legal filing, Jolie asked "Brad to pay 50 percent of the children’s expenses," claiming he "has not" paid his share.
Pitt fired back, saying he’d loaned her $8 million for a home and shelled out $1.3 million for her and the kids. After his statement, Jolie’s new lawyer Samantha Bley DeDean said: "A loan is not … child support, and to represent it as such is misleading and inaccurate."
Jolie filed her papers with Los Angeles Superior Court, and according to Page Six, one of her lawyers is also Joseph Mannis of top Beverly Hills family law firm LA Hersh Mannis LLP. The firm repped Kim Basinger in her divorce from Alec Baldwin, a notoriously ugly split in which he accused Basinger and her lawyers of leaking audio of him calling their then 11-year-old Ireland a "rude, thoughtless little pig."
BACK IN CALIFORNIA
Meanwhile, Jolie was photographed shopping at a West Hollywood Whole Foods with three of her kids. Jolie was ordered to return with the kids to California from London, where she is working on Maleficent. Per TMZ, a judge has decreed that Pitt has a right to custody of the kids for no less than 4 hours every other day on school days and 12 hours every other day on non-school days.
They are due back in court this week to settle custody issues; a judge is reportedly waiting on a custody evaluation from one or more psychiatrists.
