EMMY AWARDS SINK TO ALL-TIME RATINGS LOW: The host-less Emmy Awards did not win big Sunday night. TV's biggest night snared the lowest rating the annual ceremony has ever achieved (5.7/10 in metered markets), coming off years of new lows for awards show. The Emmys are down 23% year-over-year, Deadline reports.

OPRAH WINFREY SETS FIRST PICK FOR APPLE TV SERIES: The Book Club to end all book clubs is coming back! Oprah Winfrey shared her first selection for her show on Apple TV Plus, dubbed Oprah's Book Club. Winfrey selected The Water Dancer, by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Tune in when the network drops November 1st.

EL CAMINO TRAILER DROPS: Netflix has dropped a new trailer for El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, the first feature film from Vince Gilligan that is set inside the world of Breaking Bad. Aaron Paul reprises his role as Jesse, the living half of the crystal meth empire he ran with Bryan Cranston's Walter White. El Camino will drop October 11th on Netflix and in select theaters.

NBCU TO LAUNCH LOCAL NEWS OUTLET: NBCUniversal's local TV division is launching LX, a digital news brand that will crank out original, hyper-local news content for online distribution, Variety reports. The move is a bid to reach younger audiences who don't tune in to traditional newscasts. "We realized we were going to need a different brand to tap into people who decided that local news, as it existed in our markets, wasn't what they wanted," Valari Staab, president,of NBCU's television stations departmentsaid. LX will be "a place that younger audiences can go to watch stories that are about them, and get the background about complex issues happening in their own backyard, but still walk away feeling inspired." The service launched Monday on YouTube and lx.com.
