Hustlers scored the biggest weekend ever for STXFilms. The stripper saga starring Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Constance Wu, Julia Stiles and Keke Palmer, raked in around $32 million, which is the biggest opening a Lopez-led live action film has ever had too.
The film follows the story of former strip club dancers, organized by J.Lo, who begin swindling Wall Street clients for extra dough. The show bowed at Toronto International Film Festival and garnered enthusiastic reviews.
Still, Hustlers couldn't shake down It: Chapter Two, which snagged $40 million in its second weekend out. Newbie Goldfinch bombed after a critical trouncing. It grabbed around $2.58 million, despite its star-studded cast (Ansel Elgort, Aneurin Barnard, Nicole Kidman and Sarah Paulson) and the popularity of the Donna Tartt novel of the same name that it was based on.
