Hilaria Baldwin is speaking out after getting blowback from followers on social media who say she doesn’t talk about her husband Alec Baldwin’s daughter Ireland, 23, as much as she does about the four children she and Alec share together.
Alec shares Ireland with his ex Kim Basinger, and they have their own complicated history. ICYMI, he was recorded calling Ireland a "selfish" "pig" when she was a teenager in a voicemail recording, though they have since reportedly healed their rift.
She addressed critics last week on social media, and now she’s sitting down with People, admitting that the criticism really struck a chord.
The 35-year-old says, "That was super horrible. This woman said to me, ‘You mean you have five children.’ I wanted to be like, ‘First of all, I’m not sitting down at a desk Instagramming. I am doing it on the go.’"
She continues: "Ireland, Alec and I always have such humor of how the outside world sees you. ‘Cause we all have a great relationship and we’re always laughing when people say these things of, ‘Oh, they forgot about her.’"
In her social media post, she wrote: "Sometimes my language about my biological children does not include her. Because I did not birth her and I never want to disrespect the fact that she has a wonderful mother. But this will never take away from how much I love her, need her in my life, and think that she is one of the best things that has ever happened to me."
