Harvey Weinstein was misquoted in a published article claiming he admitted to offering jobs to actresses in exchange for sexual favors, the disgraced movie mogul’s attorney Ben Brafman said Friday.
Brafman said he was "present for the conversation" between Weinstein and the journalist, and that the Oscar-winning producer never made such an admission.
The journo who penned the piece, (which was published in Spectator magazine Friday), Taki Theodoracopulos, issued a statement admitting the article was a "mistake," but added it was the first time in 41 years he’d had to issue a retraction.
The article quoted Weinstein thusly: "I did offer women acting jobs in exchange for sex, but so did and still does everyone."
He also claimed in the article that Weinstein called him up and told him: "I've got a world exclusive for you, are you interested?"
