Gwyn did Gwyn again as she addressed a crowd of fellow A-listers gathered to celebrate at Elle's Women in Hollywood event on Monday in Beverly Hills.
As an event honoree, Gwyneth Paltrow gave a speech. While many other honorees gave inspiring, if slightly staid speeches about what it means to be a woman in Hollywood, Paltrow took a different route.
The Goop boss confessed that she hadn't prepared a formal speech because "I'm drunk" and "I'm just the lame old white lady."
To be fair, she also said other things. "I may succeed at it and I may fail, but I had this incredible passion to try to move culture forward in a different way and create a space online where we could help women eliminate shame," Paltrow told the audience. The actress encouraged women to stop waiting for permission from others to "unlock their power."
"Women are so unbelievably powerful and I think we're just living in a time now when we're really starting to unlock that power and we are giving ourselves the permission to unlock our power," she said. "We're not waiting for that permission anymore."
The Politician star donned a one-strap Bottega Veneta LBD and a strappy pair of Jimmy Choos for the event. Also in attendance were Zendaya, Issa Rae, Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, Mindy Kaling, Lena Waithe, Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie, Reese Witherspoon, Jameela Jamil, and Indya Moore.
