George and Amal Clooney are doing what they can for migrant children. They join an ever-growing list of celebrities who are decrying the administration’s stance on separating families at the border, including Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey, the writers for Starz’ Vida and Netflix’s One Day at a Time.
The actor and human rights lawyer told People that after welcoming twins Ella and Alexandra, they wondered how their children would react to the way they handled the immigrant crisis,
They told People: "At some point in the future our children will ask us: ‘Is it true, did our country really take babies from their parents and put them in detention centers?’ And when we answer yes, they’ll ask us what we did about it. What we said. Where we stood We can’t change this administration’s policy but we can help defend the victims of it."
"Today, the Clooney Foundation for Justice will donate $100,000 to the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights," they added.
The outrage seems to having an effect: President Donald Trump said he would sign a bill agreeing to end the policy on Wednesday.
