Frozen 2, starring Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad and Evan Rachel Wood, raked in $127 million in its opening weekend six years after the first Frozen set the box office on fire.
The opener sets a record for an animated film released outside of summer. The first Frozen opened over Thanksgiving, snagging $93 million in five days and $67 million over the three-day weekend. Frozen 2 earned $350 million worldwide. TBD if it will match or exceed the $1.28 billion original.
Last week's B.O. winner Ford v. Ferrari, starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale, won second place with $16 million. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, starring Tom Hanks, opened in third place with $13.5 million.
