“Friends” Reunion Special at HBO Max Is a “Maybe” Despite “Interest All the Way Around”

Will the core <i>Friends</i> cast be there for you one more time as part of the reunion special? Signs are unclear, HBO Max chief content officer Kevin Reilly told reporters on Wednesday during the Television Critics Association winter press tour. “There’s interest all the way around, and yet we can’t get interest all aligned to push the button on it. Today, unfortunately, it’s still a maybe.” It’s unclear what the sticking point might be, since the six actors and actresses–Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer–are, by all accounts, on good terms, and rumblings of a reunion have swirled for years. In fact, Aniston herself fanned the rumors in fall 2019 during an appearance on <i>The Late Show with Stephen Colbert</i>, noting cryptically that “something is happening” before changing the subject.<br />
