Week eight
is upon us and the latest injury casualties are Dallas Keuchel and
Aaron Sanchez, with his third stint on the DL. The constant use of
the 10 day DL means you need to be watching players that are banged
up and keep an eye on the Waiver Wire to keep your team churning.

Justin
Bour 1B Marlins –
Bour has been on a
tear for the month of May batting 333 with an on base of 452 and a
slugging percent of 667. The big lefty has jacked 6 homers over the
last week and a half alone while also driving in 9 runs. Bour now has
9 long balls for the season along with 25 runners sent home. He’s
dialed in.

Justin
Smoak 1B Blue Jays –
Smoak is another
young lefty who has warmed up with an average now standing at 280
with 4 dingers and 11 RBI in the last week. The former RangerSmoak
has now clubbed 9 long balls while driving in 27 and scoring 20. He
is taking advantage of hitting in the cozy Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Zack
Cozart SS Reds –
Cozart
continues his hot start with a batting average of 352 with hits in 9
of his last ten games for a total of 16 base knocks spanning 41 at
bats. That is an average of 390 with multiple hits in 6 of his last
10 games along with 3 home runs, 8 runs driven in and 10 runs scored.
Cozart is a must own across all formats.

Hernan
Perez 3B/OF Brewers –

Perez is on a good run of late with 12
hits over his last 9 games and averaging 330 over this span. The
young, versatile Brewer is now hitting 275 with 5 homers, 18 runners
sent home, 16 runs scored and 16 extra base hits to date.

Ian
Happ OF Cubs –
Happ
has been producing since his call up from Iowa with 7 hits in 21 at
bats along starts in all six games. The young Cubs’ prospect has
hit 2 long balls and driven in 4 runs and is worth owing while he is
still in the majors.

Hunter
Renfroe OF Padres –
Renfroe
has been supplying power for a Padres team after a slow start,
clubbing 8 dingers in 158 at bats which projects to 32 over a full
season. Renfroe has hit 3 home runs and knocked in 9 runsover the
last week alone. Grab him while he’s on this streak.

Alex
Cobb SP Rays –
Cobb has strung
together four straight quality starts in a row with just 8 earned
runs over 27.1 frames for the Rays. That has dropped his seasonal ERA
to 3.67 and with two starts for week eight Cobb makes for a nice plug
and play option.

Alex
Wood RP/SP Dodgers –
Wood has helped
alleviate injury problems in the Dodgers rotation with three quality
starts over his last five outings, but more importantly 0 runs
allowed in four of his last five trips to the mound. The young lefty
has punched out 38 batters over his last 33 innings and has an ERA of
1.88, WHIP of 1.02 and a 10.9 K/9 ratio. Wood is on a roll and should
be owned in all leagues and formats.

Jose
Berrios SP Twins –
Berrios
has responded since his call up from Triple A with just one earned
run allowed spanning 15.1 innings for the Twinkies. Minnesota’s top
hurler in their farm system has K’ed 15 batters while just allowing
just 2 walks and 4 hits and is worth owning with these kinds of
stats.

Cory
Knebel RP Brewers –
Knebel has
ascended to the closers’ role for the Brew Crew and is 3 for 3 so
far, but the bigger eye opener is 38 punch outs over 22 innings for a
15.5 K/9 ratio. Throw in an ERA of 0.82 and WHIP of 1.05 and Knebel
is the closer of choice for owners help in their pen.
