HG
Veterans
across the fantasy landscape are having breakout years or have
rebounded from slumps and that includes this week Trey Mancini,
Andrelton Simmons, Lorenzo Cain and Cameron Maybin. And some young
bucks such as Cody Bellinger, Jose Pirela, Jared Hoffman, Jared
Faria, Kyle Freeland and Seth Lugo warrant being rostered for this
week.

Waiver Claims

Trey
Mancini 1B Orioles –

Mancini has had a nice season as a platoon
player for the O’s with 10 homers and 34 RBI in 171 at bats, but
with Chris Davis on the DL he will get the first chance to play
daily. His stats projected over a full season come to 37 long balls
and 128 RBI making Mancini a short term asset.

Cody
Bellinger 1B/OF Dodgers –

Bellinger just a couple of weeks ago was
slumping has busted out in a big way with 6 dingers over a five-game
stretch for the Dodger rookie. He now sits at 18 for the year in just
48 games which projects out to 61 and 135 runs driven in for a
season. The powerful lefty first sacker should be owned if he was
dumped earlier this season.

Jose
Pirela 2B Padres –
Pirela
has 15 hits in his first 34 career at bats which includes 6 multi-hit
games in his first ten contests. The Friar rookie is also seeing some
time in the outfield and, while the sample size is small, anyone that
is batting 441 for a two-week span is worth using while he is that
locked in.

Andrelton
Simmons SS Angels –
Simmons is having
a career season batting 277 with 10 stolen base, 30 runs knocked in,
30 runs scored and 7 long balls for the Halos. The former Brave is
worth adding and using if you need help at either shortstop or a
middle infield position.

Lorenzo
Cain OF Royals –

Cain has rebounded from his early May
slump and is currently enjoying a 5-game hitting streak and has 16
hits over his last 39 at bats for a 410 batting average. Cain has hit
7 long balls over his last 10 days and driven in 10 runs while
scoring 15 times over this span. For the season Lorenzo stands at 285
with 10 home runs, 26 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 37 runs scored making
him well worth owing.

Cameron
Maybin OF Angels –

Maybin has returned from the DL with 12
hits in 8 games for a 363 average along with 7 runs scored and 7
swiped sacks over this span. Maybin is now batting 265 with 38 runs
scored, 3 long balls and 20 stolen bases.

Jared
Faria SP Rays –

Faria has come up to Tampa and opened eyes
across the league with just two earned allowed in 12.2 frames for the
Rays. The rookie has given up 9 hits with 13 Ks and two wins making
the rookie right hander worth using going forward.

Jared
Hoffman SP Rockies –
Hoffman
continues his outstanding freshman season with just 7 earned runs in
30.2 innings for the Rox. The rookie has punched out 36 batters over
30 innings with a 4-0 record, ERA of 2.25 and WHIP of 0.94 Hoffman is
a must own across all leagues and formats.

Kyle
Freeland RP/SP Rockies –
Another of
the Colorado rookies continues his impressive initial season in the
bigs with 8 quality starts over his last 10 trips to the mound. The
southpaw’s 3.57 ERA, WHIP of 1.39 and a sparkling home earned run
average of 3.21 makes the rookie worth using as either a starter or
reliever who starts.

Seth
Lugo SP/RP Mets –
Lugo is two for two
in quality starts since coming off the disabled list with 4 runs
allowed in 13.2 innings for the depleted New York Mets. The young
righty was impressive last season in limited action going 5-2 with an
ERA of 2.67 and has almost identical stats to date. Being listed as
both a starter and reliever only enhance Lugo’s appeal.
