FANS WANT NETFLIX TO CANCEL ‘INSATIABLE’ FOR ‘FAT SHAMING’

Thousands of people have signed a Change.org petition to have the upcoming Netflix series Insatiable canceled. Critics say the show is fat-shaming.

As of Tuesday, more than 123,000 signed the petition. Netflix released the trailer for Insatiable on July 12th. The show follows Patty, who is played by Debby Ryan, as she goes through a dramatic weight transformation and seeks revenge on people who bullied her.

The actress wore a fat suit before she went through the weight loss, and the show portrays her being punched and verbally abused.

Several people on social, including The Good Place star Jameela Jamil are supporting the call for the show’s cancellation. "Not very into the premise of Fatty Patty… a teenager stops eating and loses weight and then when ‘conventionally attractive’ takes revenge on her schoolmates? This is still telling kids to lose weight to ‘win.’ The fat shaming is inherent and pretty upsetting," she tweeted.
