ER alum Vanessa Marquez, who appeared for three seasons as Nurse Wendy Goldman, was shot and killed by police in South Pasadena, California Thursday, according to multiple reports. In October of last year amid the #MeToo Movement, she claimed George Clooney helped get her ousted from ER for reporting on-set sexual harassment. Clooney denied the allegations.
The 49-year-old was shot by police following a welfare check for someone "who was possibly suffering from a medical condition." The situation quickly deteriorated. Police reportedly found a woman "having seizures" and "possibly suffering from mental health issues."
Despite bringing in a mental health expert to help Marquez, police reportedly shot her after she "armed herself" with what turned out to be a BB gun. Police officers reportedly thought it was a semi-automatic handgun. No officers were harmed.
Several celebrities and fans, including fellow ER alum Eriq La Salle (he played Dr. Peter Bonton), shared their thoughts on Twitter. "We tragically lost a member of our ER family yesterday. Vanessa Marquez played a nurse when the show first aired," La Salle, 56, tweeted.
