Ellen Page is not here for Chris Pratt’s church. The actress and activist called out fellow celeb Pratt for attending what she was is an "infamously" anti-LGBTQ church.
She pointed out that Pratt, who has long been open about his enthusiastic embrace of Christianity, spoke about his church of choice (Zoe Church) on The Late Show Thursday. And he’s not alone: Justin and Hailey Bieber, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez are all enthusiastic members of youth-oriented evangelical churches like Hillsong, which has locations all over the world, and the newer, L.A.-based Zoe.
Pratt has also been spotted at Hillsong.
Critics say that Hillsong and Zoe—while welcoming LGBTQ people—ultimately embrace a conservative Christian view of marriage. (In other words, they don’t support same-sex marriage).
Page, who came out as gay in 2014, wrote on Twitter that Pratt’s "church is infamously anti lgbtq so maybe address that too?"
Zoe’s founder Chad Veach produced a documentary called The Heart of Man, which said that people need to heal "from personal and sexual brokenness." It featured an interview with an ex-lesbian Christian writer named Jackie HiIl Perry who is now married to a man and has encouraged other queer Christians to renounce their sexuality.
