Drew Barrymore has opened the book on her childhood, and her heartbreaking struggle with drug abuse as a young member of Hollyood’s elite. Barrymore appeared on Netflix’s Norm Macdonald Has a Show, which began streaming Friday.
The 43-year-old said she wouldn’t even consider taking the drugs, like cocaine, that she took as a kid now: "No. Oh, God. It’s been a very long time, but no. Nothing would make me have a panic attack and seem like a bigger nightmare."
Regarding the drugs she tried, Barrymore said that she "never did hallucinogenics," adding "that’s like a water bucket being thrown in your face but for hours."
And while she no longer takes drugs, she still indulges, she said. "I drink, I enjoy my life and get out of my own head," she explained. "It’s not that I’m this militant person of clarity and presence but cocaine literally seems like my worst nightmare right now."
