Does Hailee Steinfeld’s New Song Diss Ex Niall Horan?
Hailee Steinfeld dropped a new song on New Year’s Day, and many fans are speculating that the singer is throwing shade at ex boyfriend Niall Horan, formerly of the boy band One Direction. PageSix reports that the lyrics to the new song “Wrong Direction” imply that Horan was unfaithful to her: “Lookin’ back, I probably should have known, but I just wanted to believe that you were out sleepin’ alone.” In another section of the song, Steinfeld seems to take a shot at Horan’s ego: “On my tiptoes, but I still couldn’t reach your ego. Guess I was crazy to give you my body, my mind. Don’t know what I was thinkin’ till now. Everyone thinks that you’re somebody else, You even convinced yourself.” Steinfeld has neither confirmed nor denied the song is about Horan, but did say last month that she felt “excited” about her new music, adding, “It’s very honest.” The singer released a lyric video to the song Wednesday on Instagram, with a simple caption that read “”hi 2020. wrong direction is out now.”
