Did Drake Help Kawhi Leonard Leave the Toronto Raptors for the L.A. Clippers?
ESPN has a new story out about how free agent Kawhi Leonard helped engineer the trade that brought Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers this past offseason, this ensuring that the former star would also leave the Toronto Raptors to play in his native Southern California. While it’s been widely reported that Raptors superfan Drake went all out in his efforts to convince Leonard to remain with Toronto after leading the franchise to its first NBA title in his lone year there, ESPN reports that Drake let Leonard stay at his L.A.-area home for free-agent meetings–and it was at the rapper’s house where Leonard met with George to set up their dream pairing. So does that make Drake a traitor? To this end, Uproxx wonders, “Was Drake unaware this might happen? Did he just not care because Leonard brought a title to Toronto? Did he already know that Leonard was on his way out no matter what? A report indicated that Drake was going to try and help the Raptors in their pitch to keep Leonard around, but instead, he played a small role in helping the Clippers land Leonard and George.”
