Actor Dennis Quaid is coming clean about his addiction to cocaine, and his relationship with ex-wife Meg Ryan.
The 64-year-old admits he started using cocaine when he first came to Hollywood. He told host Megyn Kelly on Today: "I was basically doing cocaine pretty much on a daily basis during the '80s. I spent many, many a night screaming at God to 'Please take this away from me, I'll never do it again because I've only got an hour before I have to be at work.'
"Then about 4 o'clock in the afternoon I would be, ‘Oh, that's not so bad.’ I had a white light experience where I saw myself either dead or losing everything that meant anything to me," he said.
He hit rock bottom starring in 1987’s The Big Easy, when he was getting about an hour of sleep a night.
ON MEG RYAN
Quaid also spoke out about his relationship with Ryan, whom he split from in 2000. They married in 1991 after meeting on the set of D.O.A. in 1988. They welcomed son Jack in 1992.
"When we met I was the big deal," Quaid continued, adding that his career later stalled while hers skyrocketed in the ’90s. "We’d go out on the streets of New York and it would be like, ‘Meg! Meg!’ And I have to admit it, I actually did feel like I disappeared. I didn’t think I was that small, but I was. It was a growth opportunity — I learned from that."
Quaid has now moved on with model Santa Auzina, 31, whom he began dating in 2016 after splitting from his third wife, Kimberly Buffington. They share twins, Thomas and Zoe, now 10.
