Dale Earnhardt Jr. Hospitalized After Plane Crash Involving Wife & Daughter
NASCAR legend and current TV broadcaster Dale Earnhardt Jr. was involved in a plane crash Thursday, when the Cessna Citation plane he was in rolled off the end of an airport runway and caught fire at the Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Tennessee. Video shows thick black smoke rising from the plane. ESPN reports that the driver’s wife, Amy Reimann, and 15-month-old daughter Isla, as well as two pilots, were also on the plane. Earnhardt’s sister Kelly tweeted, “Everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation.” A spokesman for the Carter County Sheriff’s Office said Earnhardt was was not piloting the aircraft during the incident. Earnhardt retired from the Cup Series in 2017, but is scheduled to run an Xfinity Series race at Darlington on August 31.
