AWKWAFINA IS GETTING A SHOW ABOUT HER LIFE: Tawk show host Awkwafina is ending 2018 on a high note (after her breakout roles in Crazy Rich Asians and Ocean’s 8, and becoming the second Asian woman to host Saturday Night Live), by signing a deal with Comedy Central for a show based on her life. She said of the 10 half-hour episodes, which will show her early-20 days of living in Queens with her father and grandmother: “I’ve been watching Comedy Central since I was old enough to hold a remote, and so many of their shows have defined who I am today. I am so honored to be given their platform to tell the story of an Asian American girl against the backdrop of the city I was raised.”
CARSON DALY RECRUITS CHRISSY TEIGEN AND LESLIE JONES TO CO-HOST NYE: Carson Daly is getting some of his famous pals to help out as he hosts New Year’s Eve again from NYC’s Times Square on December 31st. He has enlisted Chrissy Teigen as a co-host, and Emmy nominee Leslie Jones will also be joining the party. Grammy winner Keith Urban is slated to perform live in Nashville and host the Jack Daniel's Music City Midnight: New Year's Eve from Nashville's Bicentennial State Park. This year's special airs Monday, Dec. 31 from 10-11 p.m. ET/PT with a break for local news and return for the final countdown to 2019 from 11:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. on NBC.
NEW YORK FILM CRITICS CIRCLE ANNOUNCES WINNER: Roma, a black and white Spanish language film set in 1970s Mexico City, nabbed Best Picture at the annual The New York Film Critics Circle awards Thursday. The film’s director, Alfonso Cuarón, also won the directing and cinematography prizes. Regina Hall won Best Actress for her role in Support the Girls, while Ethan Hawke won Best Actor for his part in First Reformed.

RITA MORENO JOINS WEST SIDE STORY REMAKE: Rita Moreno’s portrayal of Anita in the 1961 original West Side Story made her a star and won her an Oscar. Now, she is joining Steven Spielberg’s remake. The 86-year-old will play Valentina, the owner of a corner store where Tony works. Ansel Elgort plays Tony.
CHANNING TATUM RESPONDS TO AMANDA BYNES CLAIM THAT SHE LAUNCHED HIS CAREER: Channing Tatum has nothing but love for Amanda Bynes, who recently took credit for his career in a Paper Magazine interview.
