TERRENCE HOWARD IN TEARS OVER JUSSIE SMOLLETT: Terrence Howard broke down in tears over the loss of his TV son Jussie Smollett on Empire's final season. While speaking to Extra's Billy Bush, he said of his leave-taking: "Jussie has been the heart of the show. He's been my son for six years and I miss my son." In January, Smollett said he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack, but was then accused of filing a false police report. While the charges were dropped, the scandal continued to swirl and the City of Chicago filed a suit against him seeking $130K to pay for investigation fees. Smollett has said he won't pay. Empire decided to drop him from the final season.
ERIKA JAYNE TO HIT BROADWAY: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne Girardi is set to take on the starring role of Roxie Hart in Chicago, the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. "I'm beyond excited to join the cast of the legendary musical ‘Chicago,' " Girardi, 48, told People. "Having been a fan of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon's work it is an honor and a dream to play Roxie Hart." She will make her debut January 6, 2020.
WHY CHARLIE SHEEN PASSED ON DWTS: Charlie Sheen, 54, was set to compete on season 28 of Dancing With the Stars, but ultimately walked, Us Weekly reports. He told the magazine: "I was very flattered by ABC and their offer, but at the end of the day, I have two left feet and I just can't dance." The opportunity was linked a pilot opportunity as well, but when he passed on DWTS, the network pulled the pilot as well.
KELLY CLARKSON, KATE UPTON TALK BREASTFEEDING, HORMONES: Breastfeeding isn't always a snap. The 27-year-old model Kate Upton appeared on the 37-year-old singer's show Wednesday, 10 months after she welcomed her daughter Genevieve with husband Justin Verlander. Upton and Clarkson, who has two children with husband Brandon Blackstock, commiserated on the challenges of navigating breastfeeding issues and hormones post-pregnancy. "The hormones are crazy," Upton said. "And no one talks about it. The hormones after pregnancy, for me, were crazier than when I was pregnant, and it took forever for them to calm down, like months after breastfeeding." Clarkson then noted, "Pumping is the worst!" Upton concurred: "The worst!"
CHRISSY TEIGEN TO BE HONORED BY BABY2BABY: The nonprofit Baby2Baby, which provides diapers, clothing and other necessities to babies, is honoring Chrissy Teigen with the "Giving Tree Award." The model and author shares daughter Luna and son Miles with husband John Legend. She will be given the honor on November 9th, 2019 in L.A. "I'm incredibly honored to receive the Baby2Baby Giving Tree Award, particularly because the organization is so close to my heart," said Teigen in a press release. "Baby2Baby has given me an opportunity to teach my children the importance of giving back to families struggling with providing their children with the most basic necessities." In the past decade, Baby2Baby has distributed over 70 million items to children in homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, foster care, hospitals, and underserved schools.
