MICHAEL JACKSON’S ACCUSERS ALLOWED TO SUE ESTATE FOR SEXUAL ABUSE

A California appeals court has ruled that Wade Robson and James Safechuck are allowed to sue Michael Jackson's estate for sexual abuse. According to TMZ, a trial judge had previously threw out their cases on grounds that they waited too long to file their claims. The statute of limitations required them to file before they turned 26 and at the time they filed, Robson was 30 and Safechuck was 36.

But on January 1st, 2020, a new law took effect which allows sexual abuse victims to sue until they're 40-year-old.

Michael's estate released a statement, saying, ..."The Court of Appeal did NOT revive the lawsuits by Mr. Robson and Mr. Safechuck against the Estate of Michael Jackson. Both of those lawsuits were dismissed in 2016." They added that the two men "absurdly claim that Michael's employees are somehow responsible for sexual abuse that never happened." They also noted the appeals court did not address the merits of the claims and that's for a jury to decide.

CELEBS REACT TO AIRSTRIKE ON IRAN GENERAL

Several Hollywood stars labeled President Donald Trump a threat to America and called on fellow citizens to prepare for war following the airstrike that killed one of Iran's top generals.

Officials from the Pentagon confirmed that Trump ordered the attack on General Qassem Soleimani, who they say was responsible for hundreds of deaths of American and coalition soldiers.

Rosanna Arquette likened Trump to Hitler, writing: "Hitler did the same thing."

Debra Messing mined the archives and dug up a tweet from 2012. Trump wrote at the time: "Now that Obama's poll numbers are in tailspin - watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. He is desperate."

"THERE IS A TWEET FOR EVERYTHING. #TrumpIsANationalSecurityThreat," Messing wrote.

Rob Reiner wrote: "What a horrible feeling. Having a Commander-In-Chief who you know is a Pathological Liar trying to justify striking the heart of Iran's military."

Alec Baldwin opined that Trump launched the airstrike to distract from his impeachment: "Start a war to eclipse an impeachment?"

Rose McGowan begged Iran for mercy, tweeting: "Dear #Iran, The USA has disrespected your country, your flag, your people. 52% of us humbly apologize. We want peace with your nation. We are being held hostage by a terrorist regime. We do not know how to escape. Please do not kill us. #Soleimani."

McGowan's tweet caused Trump supporters to urge her to #MoveToIran.

John Cusack, Rob Delaney, Rosie O'Donnell, Don Cheadle and Patricia Arquette also shared their alarm.

FANS REACT AS KEVIN FEIGE TALKS MARVEL’S FIRST TRANSGENDER CHARACTER

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is confirming the rumors that a transgender character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be unveiled soon.

When asked by a student at the New York Film Academy about the future of a transgender character, he said: "Yes, absolutely yes. Very soon. In a movie we're shooting right now."

He did not specify which movie would include the character or when it would be released. Feige underlined Marvel and Disney's push for diversity and inclusion, pointing out that two movies set for release this year were directed by women, and adding that several new shows on Disney+ are helmed by women.

"We have three other shows we've announced, we haven't announced the players yet, but spoiler alert -- two out of three of them are women," Feige said.

"It makes for better stories. I say, when you are sitting at a table and everyone looks like you, you're in trouble. You aren't going to get the best story out of that."

When news broke on Twitter, several Marvel stars, including Mark Ruffalo, celebrated. He wrote: "Go Marvel!"

‘GOLDEN GLOBES 2020’: WHAT TO EXPECT

The 2020 Golden Globes will take place on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC. Here's what you should know.

THE MENU

The Golden Globes have gone vegan! The Hollywood Foreign Press Association released a statement that said: "As part of the HFPA's overall focus on sustainability, the Golden Globes will be serving a 100% plant-based meal at the show, to raise awareness about how our choices can impact the environment. All produce and vegetables are locally and sustainably sourced."

The ceremony is also eliminating single-use plastic from the event. "Icelandic Glacial is this year's water sponsor who will be serving water on the carpet and inside the ceremony in glass bottles, eliminating plastic waste. They will also be making a donation to an organization of the HFPA's choice."

THE VOTING

The Golden Globes have only 87 people voting for them, about 1% of the number of people voting for the Oscars. Those 87 people are members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, with a variety of competing agendas, making predictions challenging.

THE NOMINATIONS

While the Goldens have been called out over male-dominated categories before, female directors were shut out of the Best Director category again. This year, Greta Gerwig's Little Women was shut out in movies and Ava DuVernay's was shut out in TV for When They See Us.

Marriage Story received more nominations than any other film (six), and is a favorite along with Martin Scorsese's The Irishman to win Best Picture, Drama. The Irishman is also up for acting and screenplay honors. Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time, starring Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio is up for Best Picture, Comedy or Musical, and considered a favorite against Jojo Rabbit, Knives Out, Rocketman and Dolemite Is My Name.

HOST & PRESENTERS

Ricky Gervais is hosting, his fifth time in the hot seat.

Lined up to present for this year's Golden Globes so far are Ana de Armas, Pierce Brosnan, Tim Allen, Margot Robbie, Harvey Keitel, Salma Hayek, Amy Poehler, Rami Malek, Scarlett Johansson, Dakota Fanning, Chris Evans, Charlize Theron, Tiffany Haddish, Kate McKinnon, Will Ferrell, Octavia Spencer, Sofia Vergara, Kerry Washington, Ted Danson, Daniel Craig, and Glenn Close.
