Billie Eilish Opens Up About Depression, Says She Was “Miserable” at Age 14

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, cover star Billie Eilish admits that she dealt with severe depression at the start of her career as a result of a devastating dance injury. “I think that’s when the depression started,” the “Bad Guy” singer reveals. “It sent me down a hole. I went through a whole self-harming phase–we don’t have to go into it. But the gist of it was, I felt like I deserved to be in pain.” She goes on to say that, as a result, she didn’t enjoy the success of her breakout single “Ocean Eyes,” adding, “When anyone else thinks about Billie Eilish at 14, they think of all the good things that happened. But all I can think of is how miserable I was.”
